Altered Light Bulb – Steampunked

Hi all, I want to share with you today and altered light bulb creation.  I was at an auction and found these electrical insulators  that are found on the electrical poles. They were such a bargain I bought 9. Various colours and shapes. I decided to altered this one a bit steampunk.

I started with the Celtic Boarder and just went around the insulator. And then I started to build it up with the various sizes of the Gears. Cutting and layering them. I felt the base of the ceramic piece was lacking and why not add some there. too.

Here is some pics of the creative process.

So on to more closeups and creative process.

I Wanted to add something to both sides of the bulbs, so I used the layered wings and added some gears to them to punk them up some. Not too much to take aways from the light bulb itself.

Because the back of the layered wings were flat and its a three dimensional piece I added some hot glue to give them more texture.

After adding various small metal pieces for more details, I layered the whole piece with rust and patina pastes to finish off the industrial steampunk effect.

So I hope you enjoy this project. Thank you for stopping buy today!

Swirlydoos “Sprocket” Sketch Challenge

Such a beautiful sketch that is up at Swirlydoos and the new “Sprocket” kit works perfectly for this. I want to share a video tutorial on my take of the sketch with the new “Sprocket” kit.

Along with all the goodies from the kit, I dug into my stash and used some other elements from previous kits.

Here’s the video!

Here are some close-ups.

This was a picture of Olivia, Tracy and Daddy, when we were in Coventry England this summer. Such a fun happy picture.

Pretty layering works great with all the cut-able elements in this Scrapberry’s collection.

Mixed Media Journal Cover

Hi all, I just want to share a little mixed media journal cover I made. I really want to start to art journal and figured well, lets just start with the cover. I have a number of art journals I have picked up over the years but they sit and collect dust. So I need to just get going with it.

I  really love the natural look of the cover and wanted to keep some of it. I added little details with stamping and texture on the background to keep some of the originality.

Here is a video of the creative process.

Here are some close-ups

I also did more flat details on the back of the journal cover.

Wonderful Adventures Mixed Media Layout

I want to share a mixed media layout  I made. I haven’t created much for me lately and when I saw the challenges out their right now, I just had to find me some time. Especially Mixed Media & Art and Challenge #1 at AALL & Create- Europe

This layout is of some of our wonderful adventures while in Norway. The mountains and forests where such an amazing site. I am so grateful for my good friend Yasmin for putting up with us and par-taking in the great adventures.

This picture of Maksim was during our hunt up the mountain to find sea-shells left there from the Ice Age. These 10,000 year old shells as the boys would call them, were carried from the ocean by a glacier and deposited up on the mountain in layers of clay. It still gives me happy jitters in my tummy thinking about the excitement everyone had.

During the whole little adventure, the bugs were bad and Maksim kept wiping his head with his dirt filled sleeve of his jacket.

The scenery was spectacular, I wish we would have had more time to explore the waterfalls, tunnels and bunkers from the war. So many secret treasures in the forest. Many Many memories.

I made a short video of my creative process. I basically start with a colour palette and go from there, even adding old print from Norwegian books. I never know where it will take me or even if I will like it in the end.

And if you want to see the video of the kids finding the shells I added that short video for your pleasure.

Thank you for stoping by today!

Victorian Fan Mini Album

Hi all, I want to share a fun little mini album I made of our recent trip.  I decided to use the Victorian Fan to showcase it. So there will be lots of pictures today. so many memories.

I did make a video of the process for your viewing.

I used different techniques on the various pages. Including using the stamps that Nicole has in the store, so many awesome background stamps like the Distressed Burlap and Distressed Checkered Stamp. They work wondrous.

And by adding more texture to the pages with stencils and paste. I wanted to incorporate the background into the pages. And by adding Chipboard elements, adds to fine details to the pages.

Tower Bridge if made up of metal and stone and why not use the Metal Stencil on the background.

We we walked to Buckingham Palace, I added some flair from the Seaweed  Stencil to resemble the Coat of Arms that is placed on the gates of the palace.

We took a trip to the English Channel and the White Cliffs of Dover. Truly Amazing to know France is so close but yet so far away, I cut up the wave panel to add details.

Using the Plaid Panel and making my own title with the Funky Alphabet, I made the front and back covers.

Such a cute keep sake. Thank you for stopping by today!

Hi all I want to share a mixed media layout I made for Swirlydoos Kit Club using elements from the Main kit along with goodies from the Add-On kits.

I made a video of the creative process , I hope you enjoy!

Along with a number of background techniques I did some simple layering and focused more on the picture. This is of Olivia on an old ship sailing through the harbor in Oslo Norway. It just happened to be a gorgeous day and the weather was perfect for a sail.

Enjoy the close-ups.
