Favorite Artist – 7 Dots Studio

This month’s the challenge at 7 Dots Studio is Your Favorite Artist. Well there are so many to choose from, I had to narrow it down to someone who called to me, who had some of the same interests as me, and why not do Leonardo da Vinci. He was not only famous for the Mona Lisa but he desire to explore and under stand the human body as portrayed in the Vitruvian Man. His desire to learn and understand anatomy and physiology intrigues me. His talent not only an artist but scientist and botanist, although never truly considered a scientist, all of those subjects that interest me.

Here is a video for your viewing.

“A Fair Lady Shrine” with Relics and Artifacts

During ancient time of heroic knights and young fair maidens, kings and noblemen would have their young daughters fancied up in their most beautiful courting dresses and glamorous facial paint.

They would capture the eternal youth, first in portrait, by the most talented artists in the region. Then they would encase it in a magnificent shrine made with the pretty jewels and dressed in trims of gold and silver. The shrines where painted with the brightest pigments and tones for the most dramatic and eye-catching effects.

Conceptually, the more beautiful and alluring the shrine, the more appealing to the eyes of would-be suitor knights, all in the hopes of marryingthe young maiden to a rich and wealthy family and unifying powerful families.

After accords were struck between the fathers of the noble maidens and the suitors, the fair ladies dressed in the most magnificent formal attire.  In this final show of beauty and opulence, maidens were officially affianced to their future husbands in hopes of finding their happily ever after.

Altered Oil Cans

Hiya, I want to share a home decor project I made for a friend and her new home.

I wanted to make something that works with her rustic theme in her house. So I had found these old oil cans at a thrift sale and figured I could do something really cool with them.

Surprisingly I didn’t want to go crazy and put too many details on them and take away from the true object of what they are. Sometimes too much is really too much.

Here is a short video on the creative process.  Surprisingly other than dry time, this was relatively a small and quick project.

Using various sizes of the stamping gears, 1 1/2 inch and 1 inch for layering. I used the steampunk time pieces as the focal point on the cans. I added more layers with the Steampunk Corners and the Circle Chain Frame. Using the Verday Paint set is almost fool proof. So easy to use and I love the outcome of how naturally aged it looks.

I am sure my friend will love it when I give her dead flowers, but they match perfectly with the rustic

Thank all for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed the process.

Three Wedding Cards

I was recently asks to make some wedding  cards for a friend. I always make a few so they can choose which one they want. I like to give a variety.

Using the same paper collection for all of them. I chose different embellishments on each and a slightly different style. I just love the Small Sentiments Collection, they work great on so many levels. And add some touches with some flourish and an elegant wedding card is made.

Card 2 was more white than the other ones and smaller in size, more layers, I used heat embossing on the words, but painted the Fancy Oblong Frame with sprays.

And for the third card I chose another long card with different elements, with lots of layering. They all look the same but so different.

Using the Flourish 2 on this card on the front, I choose to put the sentiment on the inside of this card.

I made a video of the creative process

Thank you for stopping by today! Enjoy!

CCB/RA collaboration Coat of Arms

Welcome to my portion of the collaboration with Canvas Corp Brands. Today I am going to share a little book cover that I received from CCB. I used the shield from the Mythos collection from RA, I wanted to resembling an old coat of arms. With our recent trip over seas and to see so much history, this little book cover is going to make a cute little album for one of our many excursions we had. I made a little video for you all with the creative process and products in this collaboration with CCB.

Enjoy the video.

So a little about “Coat of Arms” I am not an expert by any means, but I can condense the general concept of them. Coat of Arms were  traditional made to represent an individual or a family, primarily the shield is the focal point, but the entire coat of arms tells a story of who bears the coat and what heraldic achievements have they had. Each element of the Coat of Arms has significant meaning to the individual. As our one tour guild stated “The more powerful you are the bigger the coat”
I was very surprised to learn some of the history behind them and just as surprised to find out there is actually a governing body to help determine who is granted a coat of arms based on their achievements, family pedigrees and genealogy.
So my project is a small resemblance of some of the history we got to experience while on our many adventures in England. And when I thumb through the 3200 pictures, and find just the right ones, I will bind the covers into a mini album. And Don’t  forget to stop by the CCB blog for other great projects all month long.

Beautiful Shabby Chic Layout

Hello All,  I am sharing a a fun shabby layered layout, The picture is from our recent trip overseas. Olivia in front of a fountain that looked like a dandelion. Her placement was perfect. Almost like a halo effect.

I have a tendency to start a project with just the basics, paper, picture and colour, and then it transforms from there. Never really having a plan, Just knowing I like this particular picture and this paper would go great with it.

I made a video of my crazy way of creating.

After the detailed background work of sprays, stamps ( Distress Chevron, Distress Screen, and Distress Crackle) and texture, I move onto the layering portion.

I used the Love Knot Panel and sprayed it with spray and then decided to cut it apart. I tend to do that so the product goes farther. I also used the same colour combo on both the beautiful Small word sentiment and the Flourish Page Corner

My layouts tend to have some dimension, which I don’t mind I have some shadow boxes I put them in to showcase them. Then I can switch them out when I feel like it.

Enjoy  the beautiful days.
