Precious Girl

Precious Girl

Today I am going to show case a layout done with Flying Unicorns exclusive October kit. this kit as so many goodies, just the paper collection from 49 and Market is perfect for so many different styles of layouts.  Today I got my shabby chic on.

I actually got my sewing machine out and had a little fun with this layout. Lots of layering and pretty lace.  And those subtle detail that add to the over all layout.

I use a chippie from Creative Embellsihments I picked up in the store I painted it with some Of Finn’s paints and did a little more stamping on the top to give it more dimension.

I used a flourish stencil on the background along with some clear crackle paste on the background and added a little extra color with some splatters.

Well nothing like challenging myself. As many of you now I am a very colorful person, on so many levels. Wink.  So to try a challenge that is black and white put me a bit on edge.

I decided to try my hand at a black and white canvas. I figured if I totally trashed it, I could at least hang it up in the hallway out of sight.

I started with some decoupaging some patterned paper on the bottom layer using some matte medium.

After drying I added some crackle paste with some stencils to give it some more texture.

Just some fine details with some delica beads, some beads from on old necklace, and cheese cloth.

It was a very interesting evolution of this, and through a couple stages of ugliness, I actually like the finished product.

Thank you for  stopping by today.

Getting my Punk On

Steampunk Style

What a fun challenge over at 7 Dots Studios this month. I will say I had fun getting my punk on. I love this picture of Olivia, she was being silly at grandma’s house.

This picture reminds me of a crazy mad scientist trying to build some wild contraption in their lab.

I originally had heat embossed the gears and after putting the layout together, realized I just really didn’t like the colour after I was done. I needed to darken and fix it.

I added some shimmerz texturez to darken the gears.

Lots of layering and a bit of experimenting of my own to complete this layout.

So I hope you all enjoyed and I encourage you all to get your punk on. Its a great challenge.

SunRise, SunSet

An earthy layout today featuring the ever changing seasons and the beauty all around us. And as the harvest season comes into full swing I think of all the little creatures that are preparing for the hard winter to come.

I wanted to feature this picture that a friend of mine Kim posted on IG. It was so uniquely taken and just perfect. So I found this old paper collection that was the perfect colours. I figured I just needed to use it.

It was the perfect colour combo for the Words & Paintery Challenge this month.

Lots of background texture using multiple stencils and masks. And some very simple paper layering.

“to everything there is a purpose and a time”

So as the days get colder and shorted and we prepare for the cold and harshness of the winter. We take pleasure in these little moments of beauty and happiness.

Thank you for taking the time during this busy season to stop by.

Prima PPP~Lovely

“Just Lovely”

I am going a little shabby chic today. I always like to challenge myself.  So when Prima came out with their Prima’s Product Picks for the month, I was thinking lets give it a shot.

The older collection Meadow Lark was the right purple and pinks. Needless to say pinks and purples are more challenging for me.

I fussy cut some of the flowers out of the paper and did some subltle layering.

I used a Creative Embellishments word chippie and some liquid pearls.

I added some of my own piano sheet music to the background layering and a little satin always goes with some shabby chic.

Some dry brushing with gesso to soften the look a bit.

Rustic & Beautiful

Rustic & Beautiful

As Fall fastly approaches, I try and capture all of the changing beauty around me. The kids and I stopped at this rustic barn close to the house. It is a spectacular sight. This old truck sits out by the barn and has all these beautiful flowers, antique cans and containers. Picture Perfect.

Texture, burlap and rust all go hand in hand with the changing of the seasons. The weathered look of sun soaked metal add to that country feeling.

I incorporated the rustic feeling by using crackle paste to the background and adding some sprays.

Between the crackle and rust effect I used  fair majority of the embellishments.

 A little gold shine.

I origanly had the title all shiny and pretty but wanted to tone it down so I sporadically added the rust paste to given it an unequal weathered look.

Thank you all for stopping by today, and depending what part of the world you are in, it is the seasons of change so enjoy all the beauty.

There is always something intretesting at our house. My kids come up with some of the most creative things. They take after their momma in so many ways. This is a miniature garden that Olivia and Maksim made with some crazy looking moss in the top of an acorn.

img_1081The picture is of Lichen which is a form of fungi, it is classified further by growth habit. The tall looking moss are cladonia carneola or otherwise called “crowned pixie cups”

Sometimes sketch challenges are easy to do and they just flow  and others they just don’t speak to you. I have to hear it and feel it for it to work. The Berry71Bleu sketch was perfect. And the twist was to add blue, I used some stuble Lindy’s Glitz on the flowers and leaves and coloured some white paper blooms with some moonshadow mist.

I just added some very stuble background stamping and texture before my layers and clusters.

Believe and Dream

A new layout I made for the Skrapki-wyzwaniowo and Mixed Media Place Blogs. Their  themes this month go hand and hand.

This is a picture of my Olivia and me out watching the meteor shower this summer. (Maksim went frog hunting instead) It was such a fun time. These are the memories my kids will remember when they are older. Their crazy mum drug them out side to watch the falling stars.

We talked about wishes and dreams, and what to do when you see a falling star. If you wish on a falling star, dreams do come true.  We talked about the constellations and exactly how far stars are from us.

So here in the northern hemisphere, we have there northern lights. (this is one thing my kids have not been able to see…yet) I want to make the layout similar.

I used lots of texture on this lay out, I used sea salt on the background and let it dry over night. I also added it after as a finishing touch.

Lots of sparkle and shine on this layout and many memories.

So this crazy mum, drug her kids out side, blankets,  pillows, snacks and just plan fun to witness 9 shooting stars, 4 satellites, and 19 frogs.

Thank you for stoping by today!
